  2.             The SpatialWare¬ Series:  Visual Thinking Courseware

  5. To INSTALL:
  6. Double-Click on the 3DTran.sea file.  Select a folder on your hard drive in which to install the 3-DÑTRANSFORMATIONS folder.  Click on the 'Extract' button.

  8. To USE:
  9. Double-Click on the 3-D TRANSFORMATIONS file icon that is within the 3-DÑTRANSFORMATIONS folder.  Watch for flashing buttons and text to tell you what to do next.

  11. TROUBLESHOOTING:
  12. If you receive an 'Out of Memory' error dialog box, increase HyperCard's Application Memory size to 2048kb.  To do so, locate your HyperCard 2.x (2.0 or 2.1) file icon and select it by clicking once on it.   Then select 'Get Info' from the File menu.  In the lower right hand corner, key in 2048.  Close the dialog box.  Double-Click on the 3-D TRANSFORMATIONS file icon.

  14. SUMMARY:
  15. The 3-D Transformations courseware, part of the SpatialWare¬ Series, is educational courseware designed to develop spatial sense concepts in elementary school students.  This courseware correlates with the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) document Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics, which recommends that students develop spatial sense in the early grades as a foundation for the formal study of geometry.  Specifically, NCTM Standards recommend that elementary students study the geometry of two and three dimensions so that they can visualize and represent geometric figures with special attention to developing spatial sense, explore transformations of geometric figures, and represent and solve problems using geometric models.
